Drug Addiction

(a) What is drug addiction? (b) Why do people get addicted to drugs? consequences of drug addiction? (d) What should be done to remove the curse of drug addiction from society? (e) How can you play a role in the fight against drug addiction?

Drug Addiction refers to regular intake of substances harmful to human health. It has now become a serious problem of our society, especially in the town areas. Many young men and women are falling victims to this drug addiction. It is a curse not only for themselves but also for the whole nation. Taking drugs frequently one becomes addicted. So he gets accustomed to going with it. There are some reasons for drug addiction such as frustration, bad association, availability of intoxicants, unemployment, failure in love, degradation of religious values, lack of family peace etc. Drugs are expensive. So to manage money the addicts often go for stealing, hijacking, killing and all sorts of misdeeds. Drugs are smuggled into the country. The smugglers carry on drug business freely. As a result, this curse has become widespread all over the world. The consequences of drug addiction are very dreadful. Human body changes its metabolism due to drug addiction. It affects our central nervous system and brain. Malnutrition, memory loss, health deterioration, brain damage, aggressive behaviour are some of the consequences of drug addiction."But we cannot allow this drug addiction to go on unchecked. We can play a role in the fight against drug addiction. The first thing to do is to highlight its dangerous effect to the people and make them aware of this deadly enemy of social life. The mass media can play an effective role in this respect. Seminars and discussions and debate should be held in schools, colleges and universities. Availability of drugs should be stopped at any cost. Drug smugglers should be given exemplary punishment to remove the curse of drug addiction from society. The government alone cannot solve this problem single handed. People must cooperate with the government to root this problem out from society.

তারিখ : ১৭/০২/২০১৪ ইং বরাবর চেয়ারম্যান, ৬নং দুলালপুর ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ। হােমনা, কুমিল্লা। বিষয় : নলকূপ স্থাপনের জন্য আবেদন। জনাব, যথাযথ সম্মানপূর্বক বিনীত নিবেদন এই যে, আমরা আপনার ইউনিয়নের জয়নগর গ্রামের অধিবাসী। আমাদের গ্রামটি একটি জনবহুল ও বর্ধিষ্ণু গ্রাম। এ গ্রামের লােকসংখ্যা প্রায় দুই হাজার। কিন্তু পরিতাপের বিষয় এই যে, এ গ্রামে পানীয় জলের তেমন সুব্যবস্থা নেই। স্থানীয় প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ের সামনে অবস্থিত গ্রামের একমাত্র নলকূপটি দীর্ঘদিন যাবত পরিত্যাক্ত অবস্থায় আছে। গ্রামে যে দু-চারটি হাজা-মজা পুকুর আছে, সেগুলােও আবর্জনা ও জঞ্জালে পিরপূর্ণ। এমনকি, ফাল্গুন-চেত্র মাসে এগুলোও শুকিয়ে যায়। ফলে গ্রামবাসীদের পানির অভাবে দুঃখের সীমা থাকে না। নিতান্ত বাধ্য হয়ে নদী ও ডােবা থেকে সংগৃহীত দূষিত পানি পান করার ফলে প্রতি বছরই কলেরা, টাইফয়েড, আমাশয় ইত্যাদি মারাত্মক রােগে আক্রান্ত হয়ে এ গ্রামের বহুলােক অকালে মৃত্যুবরণ করে। এমতাবস্থায় সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের নিকট আবেদন, অনতিবিলম্বে উক্ত গ্রামে অন্তত তিনটি নলকুপ স্থাপন করে জনজীবনে শান্তি ও স্বস্তি ফিরিয়ে আনতে মর্জি হয়। বিনীত নিবেদক গ্রামবাসীর প...
